KURIBAYASHI PETRI 35

1954
The Kuribayashi Petri 35 is a coupled-rangefinder, leaf-shuttered 35mm camera that was built by Kuribayashia Camera Industry.
The Petri 35 was Kuribayashi's first 35mm rangefinder, in 1954. The camera has Petri's 45mm Orikkor lens, a coated Tessar type, and their Carperu shutter. It is likely that the specification improved with time: McKeown states that some examples have an f/3.5 lens, but the manual only mentions an f/2.8. Again, McKeown gives the range of speeds as only 1/10 - 1/200 second, plus 'B', while the manual states that the shutter gives speeds from 1 to 1/300 second.
The coupled rangefinder is combined with the viewfinder, so the camera has two small rangefinder/viewfinder windows on the front of the top housing, and just one eyepiece.
McKeown lists developments of the Petri 35, which he names the Petri 35X (1955) and Petri 35MX (1955-8); these suffixes presumably refer to improvements in the shutter (flash synchronisation), so may account for the variations noted.

PETRI 7s

1963
The Petri 7s is a coupled-rangefinder, leaf-shuttered 35mm camera that was introduced in 1963.
Compared to its predecessor Petri 35, the 7s is very advanced. It has ATL (around the lens) selenium metering with a match-needle visible both in the viewfinder as well as the top of the camera.
My Petri 7s is the 45mm f/2.8 version. They also apparently produced a 45mm f/1.8 version which I assume is much nicer in available light situations.
Retail price is $59.50 (1963)
The Petri 7s doesn't have the Kuribayashi name visible anywhere because the Kuribayashi Camera Company changed their name to the Petri Camera Company in 1962.
